Why are liquid formulations better?

The starting point was the decision to create a liquid formula. Multiple, independent scientific testing shows that liquid suspension provides faster and better absorption, more consistent dosing, and eliminates much of the variables involved with pill dissolution. Glucosamine & Chondroitin Sulfate

Glucosamine and chondroitin are naturally found in the body and are part of normal cartilage, acting as a cushion between the bones in a joint. Many people with osteoarthritis use glucosamine and chondroitin to relieve joint pain, and studies show that glucosamine and chondroitin can help osteoarthritis pain and improve function. Perhaps more importantly, research indicates that glucosamine and chondroitin can help the body build and repair cartilage. In a double-blind study, glucosamine sulfate was as effective in relieving symptoms in patients with knee osteoarthritis as ibuprofen and had fewer side effects.

The Mayo Clinic took a closer look at the efficacy of Glucosamine Sulfate and, along with some very positive results, awarded it an "A" grade in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis and a "B" for the treatment of general osteoarthritis. It's interesting and recommended reading.

Chondroitin sulfate has been used for many years in Europe to relieve joint pain, and it's been shown to stop joint degeneration, improve function, and ease pain. One study followed patients with osteoarthritis in finger joints for three years, and showed fewer patients developed further cartilage damage.

Two interesting things to note: it can take a couple of months to begin to achieve the benefits of glucosamine and chondroitin. But studies have also shown that both continue to provide benefits even after you stop taken them–for as long as three months.

Methyl Sulfonylmethane (MSM)

MSM is an odorless and tasteless natural sulfur compound found in all living things. Sulfur is needed by the body for healthy connective tissue and joint function and has purported pain-quashing and anti-inflammatory properties.

While MSM is found in many foods–including meat, fish, certain fruit, vegetables and grains–it is destroyed when foods are processed. MSM supplements have become increasingly popular in recent years and many people feel they have had some pain relief since taking MSM, and some studies have reported improvement in pain with MSM.
